SF 2059 – Definition of motorized bike or moped
COMMITTEE ACTION:
SF 2059 – Currently, a motorized bicycle (moped) is defined as a motor vehicle having a saddle or seat for the rider, designed to travel on not more than three wheels, and not capable of operating in excess of 30 miles per hour on level ground. This bill revises the definition by increasing the maximum speed capability to 39 miles per hour to allow mopeds to better keep up with the flow of traffic. [2/12: 11-1 (Dvorsky "no"; McCoy absent)]
